Cornet Technology Inc. Expands in Springfield, Paving Way for Tech Manufacturing in Northern Virginia

Cornet Technology Inc., a leading provider of Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C5ISR) solutions, has expanded into a larger facility at 7600 Boston Boulevard in Springfield. The move marks a significant milestone for the Fairfax NOVA-based small business, providing additional space to support its growing customer base and pursue new business opportunities.

Cornet co-founder and CEO Nat Krishnan credited the talent of Fairfax NOVA’s workforce as instrumental for the company’s growth.

“Fairfax County, particularly, has been extremely helpful to us,” said Krishnan, “The people who live here- the kind of workforce and skillset people have here- that’s what has made this.”

 

The expanded facility will increase Cornet’s office space to 70,000 square-feet and create 80 new jobs, growth Cornet’s capacity across engineering, product development, manufacturing, operations, testing and customer support. It will also accommodate additional personnel and equipment, strengthen collaboration across teams and provide a foundation for continued growth.

“Cornet Technology is a great Fairfax County success story,” said Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chairman Jeff McKay. “It is an innovative company that has grown here while taking on some of our nation’s most demanding security challenges.”

For more than three decades, Cornet has designed and manufactured secure communications technologies for the military and first responders, helping users share critical information and operate effectively in challenging environments.

George D. Thomas Recognized as a 2026 Washingtonian Tech Titan

George D. Thomas, president and CEO of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA), was recently named a 2026 Washingtonian Tech Titan, joining the publication’s annual list of influential leaders shaping the future of technology, innovation and the Greater Washington economy.

Before taking the helm of FCEDA in August 2026, he established his regional track record at Connected DMV, the Greater Washington nonprofit he co-founded and led as CEO. Under his leadership, the organization helped advance the region’s quantum, energy and space economies by transforming collaborative initiatives into globally recognized platforms.

Thomas also chairs the Quantum World Congress, a leading global quantum event that draws more than 2,000 attendees and delegations from 30 countries. He launched the Potomac Quantum Innovation Center and the Potomac Center for New Space Economy, two initiatives designed to strengthen the region’s position in rapidly evolving technology sectors.

Before leading Connected DMV, Thomas spent more than 17 years at IBM in enterprise and innovation leadership roles across global markets, working on smart cities, enterprise modernization and innovation ecosystems. He also held leadership positions at global infrastructure firms, including Hatch and New Urbana, and founded the strategic advisory practice New Urban Informatics.

Thomas now brings that experience to FCEDA as it works to accelerate growth across Fairfax County’s priority industries, expand its capabilities in frontier technologies and strengthen workforce and talent pipelines. Under his leadership, FCEDA is charting the next era of growth as a globally recognized hub for innovation, talent and emerging technology.
