The Region Rises to Support Impacted Federal Workers

NOVA Launches $1 Million Training Opportunity for Recently Unemployed Federal Workers and Contractors

Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) has launched NOVAnext, a $1 million initiative to help recently unemployed federal workers and contractors transition into new careers.

Approved participants can enroll in one of 14 courses for free, covering IT certifications, program management, HR, entrepreneurship, and a new Generative AI class. NOVA also offers resume-writing and job search workshops.

Eligible individuals must have been laid off after February 1, 2025, reside in the NOVA service area, and apply through Virginia Career Works. Learn How to Apply!

 

George Washington University Supports Displaced Federal Workers with Tuition Discounts and Career Pivot Webinar

George Washington University’s College of Professional Studies (CPS) is offering a 20% tuition discount for displaced federal workers impacted by downsizing in 2025. Eligible individuals must apply for the Summer or Fall semester by April 1, 2025, and provide proof of dismissal. The discount applies to select undergraduate and master’s programs in cybersecurity, homeland security, IT, political management, and more.

To further support career transitions, CPS is hosting a free Virtual Career Pivot Webinar on March 19 to help professionals navigate industry shifts, expand networks, and develop career strategies. Two Fairfax County Companies Launch an AI-Driven Tool to Revolutionize HR Support for Federal Employees
