George Mason will be hosting a resource fair for displaced federal workers and government contractors as part of their annual STAR-TIDES Capabilities Demonstration. Network and gain useful contacts and resources to launch into your next career. At the resource fair, you will find: unemployment assistance, housing resources, mental health support, food aid, career help and more.

NOVA Launches $1 Million Training Opportunity for Recently Unemployed Federal Workers and Contractors

Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) has launched NOVAnext, a $1 million initiative to help recently unemployed federal workers and contractors transition into new careers. Approved participants can enroll in one of 14 courses for free, covering IT certifications, program management, HR, entrepreneurship, and a new Generative AI class. NOVA also offers resume-writing and job search workshops. Eligible individuals must have been laid off after February 1, 2025, reside in the NOVA service area, and apply through Virginia Career Works.

Chart Your Next Course with a Masters Degree in AI from George Mason University

George Mason University will offer a master of science in artificial intelligence (AI) starting this fall, becoming Virginia’s first public university to offer a stand-alone master’s degree in this field. This degree will equip the next generation of AI innovators with a rigorous, interdisciplinary curriculum blending foundational theory with real-world applications, ensuring graduates are prepared to address complex challenges in industry and government.
