11 Fairfax-headquartered Companies make the Fortune 500 2025 list

Fairfax County has once again cemented its position as the economic engine of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and a critical player in the national economy, with eleven Fairfax-based companies earning a place on the 2025 Fortune 500 list of the largest publicly traded corporations in the United States. These companies spanning finance, defense, hospitality, tech, and infrastructure collectively generated $339 billion in revenue in fiscal year 2024. That represents 42% of all Fortune 500 companies headquartered in Virginia and a staggering 23% of their total combined revenue statewide.
Freddie Mac, headquartered in Tysons, led the charge at #38 nationally, not only ranking as the top company in Fairfax County but also taking the number one spot across the Commonwealth of Virginia. Close behind were Capital One Financial (#82), General Dynamics (#96), and Northrop Grumman (#110), all headquartered within minutes of the nation’s capital, where global finance, defense strategy, and regulatory decision-making intersect.
Fairfax County is the country’s most influential industries scale. These companies aren’t just surviving, they’re gaining momentum. Notably, Capital One, General Dynamics, Leidos, Hilton, NVR, Booz Allen, QXO (formerly Beacon Roofing), CACI, and SAIC all rose in national rankings compared to 2024, reflecting strong performance and competitive positioning.
