11 Fairfax-headquartered Companies make the Fortune 500 2025 list

Eleven companies. $339 billion in revenue. One powerful ecosystem.

Fairfax County has once again cemented its position as the economic engine of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and a critical player in the national economy, with eleven Fairfax-based companies earning a place on the 2025 Fortune 500 list of the largest publicly traded corporations in the United States. These companies spanning finance, defense, hospitality, tech, and infrastructure collectively generated $339 billion in revenue in fiscal year 2024. That represents 42% of all Fortune 500 companies headquartered in Virginia and a staggering 23% of their total combined revenue statewide.

Freddie Mac, headquartered in Tysons, led the charge at #38 nationally, not only ranking as the top company in Fairfax County but also taking the number one spot across the Commonwealth of Virginia. Close behind were Capital One Financial (#82), General Dynamics (#96), and Northrop Grumman (#110), all headquartered within minutes of the nation’s capital, where global finance, defense strategy, and regulatory decision-making intersect.
