FCEDA Partners with Interstellar Dreams Center, Virginia Tech on Space Debris Challenge

Fairfax Economic Development Authority is excited to partner with Interstellar Dreams Space Center and Virginia Tech to present Interstellar Dreams Space Week, a weeklong program designed to inspire the next generation of space innovators and show that careers in space extend far beyond becoming an astronaut. As part of the week-long event, we want to invite all middle high school students to join an extraordinary group of aerospace experts, next-generation aerospace leaders, and entrepreneurs for the Interstellar Dreams Space Debris Solutions Challenge.

WHAT: Our planet’s orbit is filling with space debris and the next BIG idea to solve it could come from YOU! This is your chance to step up, think boldly, and design solutions that will keep Earth’s orbit safe for satellites, astronauts, and future generations of explorers. Whether it’s a creative engineering invention, a policy idea, or an artistic vision, every perspective counts in the fight to clear the cosmos!

WHEN: Tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025, at 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

WHERE: Virginia Tech Research Center – Arlington 900 N Glebe Rd, Arlington, VA 22203

WHO: Middle and high school student interested in space and space-adjacent careers.
