SUMMARY:The Company We Keep: Building the Right Culture for Tomorrow
DESCRIPTION:Adaptable…Resilient…Transparent\nThree traits of company culture we’ve learned were key to success over the past two years\, and into the future.\nAs we passed through the heights of the pandemic\, the role of company culture became vital to the success of companies across many industries. The ability of companies to adapt systems\, adopt new online interactions\, empower employees and empathize with their concerns has determined whether workers stay or go.\nThere is no going back\, but the way forward can be much better in creating the right culture for your organization.\nRecalibrating company culture after the pandemic will be a competitive differentiator for companies as workers express their new needs\, and the shifting of generations in the workforce takes hold. \n  \nTopics to be discussed: \n• What are the hallmarks of a successful company culture?\n• What changes need to be made to retain and attract top quality workers?\n• How can management best manage in the new reality of distributed workforces?\n• What is the impact of culture on the survival and profitability of companies?\n• Which elements of legacy cultures should be eliminated or adapted?\n• How does diversity\, equity and inclusion figure into a new culture?\n• Is there a new relationship between workers and management? \nPanelists: \nAlex Iams\, Executive Vice President\, Economic Development Authority\, Fairfax County\, VA \nNaveen Krishnamurthy\, President & CEO\, Riva Solutions\, Inc. \nJamie Notter\, Co-founder\, Propel\, Culture Advisors \nWho Should Attend: \nCEOs\, Executives\, Business Owners\, Organizational Development Experts\,\nHR Professionals\, Change Leaders\, Managers\, Innovators \nCost: No charge.

SUMMARY:Workforce Development & Reskilling: Releasing the Energy of America’s Workers
DESCRIPTION:The Catalyst for Change Series explores how business leaders use moments of disruption to change the course of their companies to accelerate growth\, expand services\, meet new needs\, and re-design the way toward a brighter future. Catalyst for Change is organized by the NOVA Economic Development Alliance (NOVA EDA). \nPotential Energy. \nThat’s the scientific name of energy waiting to be released. Once it is\, it can move mountains. It’s the same with the millions of adults; young\, middle age\, older\, unemployed\, underemployed\, or in dead-end jobs who need the training and education to release their creative energy into the economy.  How about companies that need to reskill workers based on new technologies or market needs? \nThe U.S. is experiencing a shortage of skilled workers at the same time as unemployment and  underemployment remain high\, and while wages have barely moved in 10 years. Why?  The answer: Too many people don’t have the training or skills needed to secure those higher paying and rewarding jobs. \nThat’s where workforce development and reskilling come in. \nWhat are the well-paying jobs\, in which industries? What are the skills and training workers need to secure one? How do I transform my company through worker reskilling? Should my company develop an apprentice program? \nTopics to be discussed: \n\nWhat are the high-growth\, well-paying jobs I should target?\nWhat are the skills and training needed to get a good job?\nWhat should my company do differently to attract high potential workers?\nHow does my company assess its new needs and reskill workers?\nHow do I plan for a career and not only a job?\nWhat are the programs to help me get started?\n\n  \nPanelists: \nNigel Paine\, Author & Change Leader\, London\, UK \nPatrick Small\, CEcD\, Executive Director\, Dept. of Economic Development\, City of Manassas\, VA \nAmber Clayton\, SHRM-SCP\, Director\, The Knowledge Center\,  Society for Human Resource Management \n  \nWho Should attend: Business Leaders\, Business Owners\, Managers\, HR Professionals\, Organizational Development Professionals\, Change Leaders\, Innovators \nCost: No charge. \n
